Platform Lab Selected as TopCAT Awards FinalistColumbus, OH (January 8, 2004) - Platform Lab today announced that the non-profit information technology business service firm based in Columbus, Ohio, has been chosen as a finalist for the Columbus Technology Council's 2003 Top Contributors to the Advancement of Technology (TopCAT) Award in the "Outstanding Start-up Business" category. "The TopCAT Awards have historically gone to those companies that exemplify achievement in technology in Central Ohio. It's only fitting that Platform Lab should be in the running. It's really proven to be an asset to our community," said Ben Blanquera, Columbus Technology Council Director. Blanquera also remarked on the financial success of the non-profit organization; opened in January 2002, Platform Lab was completely state-funded and now operates services solely on its own revenues. Even in a lagging economy, Platform Lab experienced a 300 percent growth rate last year as companies were held to greater accountability for IT spending. Small two-person operations and multi-million dollar corporations have used the facility to conduct disaster recovery drills, load testing, multi-platform testing, proof-of-concept testing and more, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings. "We are pleased to be recognized by the very same technology community that we serve," said Steve Gruetter, the organization's director of business development.
