Platform Lab staff builds each custom configuration to client specification. Please note, Platform Lab has outstanding relationships with numerous hardware and software vendors. If your firm requires resources not found on our current lists, please contact us in advance - we will make every effort to acquire your targeted resources for your project.

Load and Stress Testing

Load/Stress example
Load test infrastructure will be allocated on a per core, per GB RAM basis: Each 1 core and 2 GB RAM will be available for $50/week. Bandwidth will be available for $3/Mb per day based on peak usage. Platform Lab will load operating systems and selected software configured to your specification for $100/hour. Platform Lab can acquire load test software on demand for a variety of load test applications; however 100% of any cost incurred is passed along to the client.

EXAMPLE: A 2500 concurrent user load test that requires 8 cores and 16 GB RAM along with 25 Mb of bandwidth and operating system and software loaded will cost approximately $575 per week.

Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing example
Cloud Computing will be allocated on a per core, per GB RAM basis: Each 1 core and 2 GB RAM will be available for $20/day or $50/week. Bandwidth will be available for $1 per Mb per hour or $3/Mb per day based on peak usage. Platform Lab will load operating systems and selected software configured to your specification for $100/hour.

EXAMPLE: An infrastructure that requires 50 cores and 100 GB RAM along with 100 Mb of bandwidth and operating system and software loaded will cost approximately $2,900 per week or $1,400 per day.

Disaster Recovery Plan Evaluation

EXAMPLE: 9 hardware devices – consisting of most in-stock servers, tape drives, storage and network devices – with operating systems and selected software, configured to your specification at any of the four Platform Lab locations for approximately $3,600 per week. Platform Lab will also deliver a test Lab environment to a client site at a moderate delivery charge.

Proof of Concept Evaluation

IT Classroom Training

16 seats/1 instructor station - 17 Dell GX620 workstations each with a 3.2 GHz Intel processor, 2 GB RAM and 80 GB disk, hardwired connectivity, Microsoft XP Pro/Office, 17" LCD monitors, Dell XGA projector, wireless hub, 4 whiteboards, network printer, in-room thermostat; Coffee station, refrigerator, quiet, comfortable, secure environment with 36” student workspaces.

Available for $500/day, plus set-up cost is $100/hour; normal set up for a class is one hour.

Bandwidth Capability

Beginning 7/1/2009, bandwidth is allocated to clients on a per Mb, per day basis for $3/Mb/day. Bandwidth requests over 100 Mb cost $1/Mb/hour, per client request. Bandwidth is available for test purposes only.

Organizations that belong to TechColumbus, Ohio IT Alliance, The Circuit, Technology First, NEOSA, Toledo Regional Growth Partnership or IT Alliance Appalachia Ohio receive a 10% discount. Firms that contract for multi-week engagements may also be eligible for discounts.

Notes of Interest

Platform Lab is in high demand; please contact us as soon as possible prior to your test project. We do not work with minimum set up requirements, however two weeks advance notice is preferred. Initial utilization of Platform Lab requires a signed agreement in place. As a non-profit, Platform Lab will pass along 100% of any rental fee associated with a clients’ configuration to the client. Often, with proper advance notice, Platform Lab can secure testing resources on loan without incurring cost, so no additional client cost is incurred.
