November 30th, 2004 The holiday season has started in a very promising manner for Platform Lab! We are looking forward to being a better resource as two major hardware firms have committed to placing new hardware at the Lab for evaluation in Q1 2005. We are making a greater impact on the Ohio IT community as we have already had one firm commit to four weeks of testing for 2005, and five other firms have provided verbal commitments for four-week terms in 2005. We are excited for the CTC TopCAT awards in January as we have received four outstanding letters of support for our nomination as 'Best Service'. I hope we can be a finalist. Additionally, the State of Ohio will announce the recipients of the Wright Center grant awards on 12/6….and we are cautiously (fingers crossed) optimistic…If we are selected, we will create the Ohio FiberLab Network – the nation’s only non-profit fiber-optic WAN. This resource would be offered nationally for distributed application validation, to be conducted in Ohio. We have been on pins and needles awaiting the announcement...Am I the only person left that says 'pins and needles'? And if all this good news wasn't enough, The Ohio State Buckeyes soundly defeated their arch-rivals, the Michigan Wolverines 37-21, in front of my father and I and 105,000 of our friends. And that alone makes 2004 a very good year in my book. Thanks for your time, Steve |
